The great, the bad, and the ugly
We recently had dinner at Ella's while in Fayetteville for the Thanksgiving...the food was amazing, a big city menu with a variety of dishes for any taste. I started with the beef carpaccio which was was by no means too small, but I wanted more when I was finished. For an entree I tried the chef's special; a dish of Monkfish with a spicy (but just right) rock shrimp cream and roasted tomatoes that were suberb. For dessert, cheese! You can always tell the expertise of a fine dining chef by his cheeses, and the five French cheeses he presented in a progression were on point! The service was not comparable to the food, but instead perfectly matched the ambiance of the dining room: boring and uninviting. When in town next I will definitely go back, but request a table in the hotel's beautiful lounge.    [27 Nov 2006 10:48:42]
