Best waiter I have ever seen.
Being a Huntsville native I have had the pleasure and displeasure of eating at most of the dine in restaurants in the Valley. Today when I visited the Blue Plate Cafe on University Dr. I believe I witnessed the most outstanding example of team work I have ever seen. My waiter was still in training, but after asking I found out he had previous experience waiting tables before. He was very clean, professional and polite. It seemed his top priority was to take care of my wife and me, yet he was constantly grabbing dishes from other servers to take to the dishroom, helping the bus boys clean tables, pouring ice into the small drink station and taking other people's food to their tables. I know this is how it is supposed to be at a restaurant, but not only have I hardly ever seen it actually happen, but this guy was completely focused and left me very impressed with both him and whomever hired this guy. His name was Mike B. and John was his trainer. Mike was in a world of his own though with a purpose driven motive to assist both customers and other staff in such a way I have never seen anywhere in over 40 years. I was so impressed with Mike's ability to perform for perfect that I didn't really pay attention to anything else, but I really enjoyed my visit.    [06 Mar 2006 23:01:35]

Good Food/Good Service
Good old Southern country food like Grandma made. Tried the pot roast (very tender & tasty), fried okra (just right), white beans & ham (yummy), and turnip greens (tasty but pretty tough). All in all, this is a restaurant I'd recommend to anyone. The server was very polite and eager to wait on us. We didn't even have to ask for tea refills (quite refreshing).    [30 Nov 2006 13:50:42]

Peach Cobbler - OMG!!

Best Restaurant Ever!
