Possibly the area's best Mexican restaurant The Habaneros in Hueytown has been a favorite place for the business lunch crowd for some time, and for good reason. The food is served quick, comes out steaming hot and tastes great.
The chile rellenos come highly recommended. Other favorites include taquitos and enchiladas.
The cheese dip is satisfying, although personally I'd like it to be a bit spicier. It has a very good consistency, not too thin or too thick.
If you're looking to really spice things up, ask for the habanero hot sauce. Unlike the traditional red salsa (which is good enough here) the habanero hot sauce is served in a small plastic container. Do not be fooled - a little goes a long way! If you're brave (or stupid, like me) try it plain with chips instead of mixing with the red salsa. It's the most pleasant pain I've ever experienced.
This is always a "must eat" when on the west side of Birmingham.
It's worth noting that there are other locations, in Hoover, Alabaster, Gardendale and Roebuck. So far, my experiences at the ones in Alabaster and Hoover have also been positive.
