Better Hava a Back-up Plan
The food may be good; I would not know. I made my reservation for my wedding party. Following the wedding we went to Havana Blue only to find they had a better offer. They sold out for a bigger party and didn't bother to let me know even though I was staying in the hotel. They blamed me, they blamed the Marriott and finally offered to call the police if I didn't leave. Some service. Lots of good dining on St. Thomas; Havana Blue is not on the list. Mediocre Food, Bad Customer Care
Havana Blue sports a dark atmosphere that on most occasions is probably very nice. Our dinner was interrupted by constant bright flashes from a photographer. When we inquired about it we were told that a group of socialites were meeting there and had hired a photographer. The manager politely informed us that they were more important than us and we would have to deal with it.
Past the bad atmosphere I found the food to be unimpressive. Everything was cooked perfectly but the food was so heavily seasoned that after a few bites you couldn't take any more. We ordered duck flautas and couldn't taste the duck through the seasoning. There are definitely better places on the island to dine. [02 Dec 2007 10:34:49]

Best Meal of My Entire Life
This was by far one of the best meals I've ever had. The setting is beautiful oceanfront dining and the cuisine is innovative but very hearty and perfectly balanced. Do not miss dining at this restaurant. [05 Dec 2007 01:28:02]

Excellent Food, Nice Setting
Havana Blue has a very good ambiance; it is lighted in subdued blue tones and accented by many candles. As the restaurant is mostly open on three sides, gentle ocean breezes along with the sounds of the sea can be expected. I dined there several nights, and found the food to be on par with that of fine restaurants in any major city that I've been to.
The fare is billed as "experimental Pacific Rim-Latin fusion"; I would agree with this, and the options often include things (especially sauce-wise) that one might not have seen combined before. This may present to some as being "overspiced", as it does depart from the traditional, but I found the food to be enjoyable and surprising - a bit "edgy".
The service was mixed - sometimes great, and others just plain poor. The prices are high, but so is everything else on the island...prices are about 20% higher than restaurants serving much lesser fare. They've obviously had a problem with cancellations, though - they require a credit card at time of booking (though they don't charge or even validate it when you give them the number).
