midnight cowboy
Always on the lookout for vibey venues serving great food, the cactus provided our table with heaps of both.
From the start - delicious chilli poppers washed down with jugs of frozen strawberry and lime margaritas, we knew we had landed in cowboy heaven.
Our main courses were perfectly grilled sirloin topped with a "just beginning to melt" slab of coriander and jalapeno butter served with thick and crispy home cut fries and a "fat fred" (battered onion ring)and grilled baby calamari tossed with cherry tomatoes on crispy cos leaves - sublime!
a nice surprise was a hint of garlic and anchovy with the calamari.
2 cold golds please!
After a great supper we shared a Mississippi mud pie, kicked back and just enjoyed the buzz.
the last pleasant surprise, was the bill, R200.00 including a 10% tip.

Old Mejico in Cape Town
I grew up next to Mexico, so although the food might not be authentic, it's the best Mexican you very well may find in SA. Yummy strawbery margaritas. Great service. Fun Mexican decor, makes me miss home. [29 Sep 2006 09:04:23]
