Please Improve I went there with my boyfriend on a weekend, the place was packed so we didn't mind waiting long. They said we have to wait 30 minutes for our food to be served, but we waited almost an hour before it came. The steak, which we wanted to be well done, was served rare. The food didn't taste good at all. Service was very poor. They should employ more people if they can't handle it, and business seems to be good. Try to employ more people or people won't go back there again. [18 Apr 2006 03:09:57] Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: --lazyeil -
Pleasantly Surprised I have passed by Barnsburry Restaurant every time I wanted to grab a bite to eat in Bugis Junction. Everytime I would pass by, there would be few people there, giving me the impression that it wasn't a great place to eat. But as I passed by there last weekend, I looked on the menu and saw they had cheese melt nachos, a calm respite to my busy day, so I went in.
Though the cheese melt nachos weren't as great as I thought it would be, first impressions were immediately dissipated because the service was great, the food I chose (which was the lamb stew.. I forgot the name) was delicious. The staff were also very friendly.
Keep it up. I would definitely return. Thanks! [05 Jun 2006 19:10:00] Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: Lamb Stew (Forgot the complete name, but it was good!) --MG -
Poor service and long wait A few months ago, my friends and I brought a Taiwanese friend, who was in Singapore for holiday, to Barnsbury for dinner as the other restaurants at Bugis Junction were packed or with a long queue.
Looking into Barnsbury, which was pretty empty, we decided we can have a quick dinner before my friend made her way to JB that night.
Unfortunately, the service staff was very rude and sacarstic when 5 of us only ordered 3 mains, 2 soups, salad and drinks, as we had some snacks at Little India before dinner.
We waited for 30 minutes before two of the mains came, and we had to insist on cancelling the last main dish as they were still cooking it after 45 minutes after we ordered. We saw others receiving their orders who had only been there 5 minutes.
The waiters and waitress even blamed us for not informing them that we were rushed and insisted that they served their food according to the sequence food was ordered.
A totally bad experience, more so for our Taiwanese friend. We'll never go back there again! [13 Oct 2006 01:44:02] Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: Lamb Stew (Forgot the complete name, but it was good!) --Anonymous -
Long wait. Inedible food. There were very few people in the restaurant during lunch hour, so I went there because the other restaurants were packed. This was a very poor decision.
The service was slow and the waiters were impolite. Some of the food I ordered was improperly cooked.
I would not recommend visiting this place, even if you are very hungry and the other restaurants have long queues. It is not worth it. [13 Jan 2007 22:31:10] Food: Service: Ambiance: Overall: Recommended Dishes: NONE. --Anonymous -
Horrible Food The service from the young waiters is perfect. They looked like 15-17 year old kids. Is this child labour? They seemed so terrified of their bosses when they were scolded because of the lack of glasses on the tables, when it was not even their fault! If you are going to scream at your workers, never do it in front of your customers.
The food that came out was horrifying. You wouldn't believe what I received. I ordered a baked potato, and got 4 french fries instead. I ordered Fish and Chips, and it was like a Swenson's Kid's Meal size. On top of that, it had a fish stench... not fresh and not crispy.
