Worst food and service.
The restaurant has the world's worst service and food.
I wonder how the authorities of Singapore allow this kind of restaurant to operate.
The whole failure of the restaurant goes to the unfriendly staff there. They are big cheats and force you to order expensive liquor. They cheat alot on the liquor quantity, plus they served me cheap liquor when I ordered scotch.
They do not serve draught beer, but force you to order bottled beer.
Make no mistake, do not go this restaurant to ruin your moods and celebrations. [31 Jul 2003 02:19:14]

Pathetic service/behaviour
It was an embarassing day for me at your restaurant. I have advised my friends to be aware off and never will I return to your place.
1. There wasn't much of a crowd and still it took more than a half hour for us to get noticed
2. Our waiter had little knowledge of what is available and what is not
3. We decided to walk out as the restaurant didn't meet our requirements.
Here comes the worst part: Attitude of the person who was attending us. When we decided to leave, he said that food is expensive here and that we cannot afford.
That was NONE of his business. It was a RUDE behaviour. [31 Jul 2003 02:36:43]

Great Food
Unlike the previous reviewers I have absolutely no complaints. The food was terrific equaling that of the best Indian restaurants in London. Sure the service, like a lot of Indian establishments, is less than attentive and not up to usual Singapore standards but its not terrible. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town. Best View in Boat Quay
I've been a number of times with co-workers from India, and they liked the food. Granted, it is more expensive than a lot of Indian restaurants, but it has the best view in Boat Quay (On the roof). I've never experienced the rude service posted here. I noticed the post is kind of old (2 years old). Perhaps it's under new management because I've been going for a year, and the service is actually quite pleasant. If it was anything like the first two posts, I'd be appalled as well and would never return, but I've never experienced bad service there. Compared to a number of places in Boat Quay and Newton C., the service is excellent. This is a must go for all my out of town visitors. [16 Aug 2005 03:41:27]

Don't tell me what I have to order
I went to Our Village with a friend who is a regular patron and had good food, good service with a great setting. I therefore decided to go back. Mistake! The restaurant was empty as we had decided on an early dinner. We decided what we wanted to order but when we gave our order were told there was a minimum spend per person and we hadn't hit it. We pointed out that we hadn't ordered drinks yet but were told in a very rude manner that we better order to make up the numbers now. Disgusted we decided to leave. I won't be back. FINEST INDIAN FOOD
Our Village is my favourite Indian restaurant. I have been in Singapore for the last 7 years and I have not come across a better restaurant than this. The food is EXCELLENT!! I have regularly taken visitors there and they always want to go back. Sure, it takes time for delivery of food because they make everything fresh. I can wait for it. Try their Chapathis, Phulkas etc. All their dishes are GREAT! I have never been disappointed. There is one Mr.Kumar who usually takes care of my orders. But be practical, do not expect the waiters to speak fluent English. Be patient for the food is THE BEST. [24 Nov 2006 06:15:54]

Excited
We were there on Saturday for the first time and were excited about the place. We did experience both good service and fine food, and an unparalleled view. We have already reserved a table for next Saturday to be there again! [07 Oct 2007 21:10:43]

I Like This Place
I'm surprised with the comments made about the quality of service in the earlier postings. I've been to this restaurant several times now and I love the food and ambience. There is a minimum charge of $30 per person for dinner but we would easily come close to that amount without even having wine.
I strongly suggest you give this restaurant a try and accept that the restaurant operates at a more leisurely pace and is a good place to chill. With these expectations set, you'll have a great time enjoying the food and the view. [08 Dec 2007 05:29:26]

Delicious food, relaxed atmosphere
We have been to "Our Village" several times. We always were treated kindly, especially from one employee. He knows the dishes, gives good recommendations, and tells you if a dish is spicy or not.
The best thing for me was that you don't get bothered from the guys on the street to eat there. No gimmicks, no free beer, just pure food.
If you want a good and relaxing time in the busy and crowded area of Boat Quay, go there. [01 Jun 2008 23:25:29]
