I won't be going back! It's a great location so seemed like a good place to take a visitor for a last lunch before leaving Wellington ... but ... of the five of there only one of us actually received our exact order! The service was incredibly, painfully slow - after one hour our meals arrived, only they had forgotten 2 of our orders, and one of the group received theirs twice ... The food itself was ok. Pretty average brunch, coffee etc, I had a very disappointing berry smoothie (tasted more like a milk shake). The meals are big, but that is about the only positive thing I can say about the The Bach. With the service so frustrating, I'd much rather eat in town, or grab fish and chips and sit on the beach if its the view you're after (its far cheaper, tastes about the same, and comes much much faster). Hope it's under new ownership! Agree with the former review - we went there one evening and felt like we were crashing a family get-together. So disappointing because the view is great and this place was good when it was the Brass Monkey. Here's hoping someone with some experience in the hospitality industry takes it over some time soon!!! Awesome location pity about the service Thought I would bring an out of town visitor to the beautiful island bay and check out a cafe I had never been to. Waiter was grumpy, no clean glasses for water, Wait staff wandered around but never checked if we were ok. Left our seats to ask for water, ask for water glasses, ask for a fork, ask for a highchair, ask for the menu. Yet when we arrived he said take a seat ...I was always out of my seat!! Not impressed. The Bach is horrible I took some overseas visitors to The Bach for a special dinner and this is the worst restraurant I have ever been to. I was embarrassed by the terrible service, the slow staff, the rude staff and the food was rubbish. I have had better service and food in a US Army base in Iraq. This was the pits. Don't eat here. lovely weekend brunch I've been here several times for lunch at the weekend-always found it very enjoyable. We've had to wait up to 30 minutes for food during rush hour but that has never been a problem, we just relaxed with coffees and let time slip by. The food was tasty and the location is gorgeous. Hire customer focused staff. Beautiful views. Coffee took 20 minutes to arrive and was luke warm, cake was dry & the utensils still had food caked on them from the last customer.
